Where the money goes
Most of a Reigate & Banstead bill is not Reigate & Banstead Borough Council. The largest share goes to Surrey County Council, which runs schools, social care, roads and libraries. Separate precepts fund Surrey Police and Surrey Fire & Rescue, and Reigate & Banstead Borough Council keeps a comparatively small share for bin collections, planning, parks and housing.
Why the bands look so odd
