About Surrey News
One page for everything being reported about Surrey, whoever reported it.
Surrey's news is scattered. A story about a Guildford planning row runs in one title, a Caterham school inspection in another, a Farnham road closure in a third. Surrey News pulls the lot into one place, sorts it by section and by town, and gets out of the way.
What it does
- Reads the public feeds published by 10 Surrey outlets.
- Files each story under one of 13 sections and any Surrey places it mentions.
- Drops anything it cannot tie to Surrey, and merges duplicates between titles.
- Shows the publisher's own headline and summary, credited, and links out.
What it does not do
It does not republish articles, rewrite them, or put its own byline on anyone else's reporting. There is no paywall, no login, and no attempt to keep you here rather than sending you to the outlet that did the work.
Questions
What is Surrey News?
Surrey News is a free index of local journalism about Surrey. It gathers headlines from every publisher that covers the county, files them by section and by town, and links each one to the original report.
Do you write the articles?
No. Every story is written and published by the outlet credited on the card. Surrey News shows the headline and the publisher's own summary, and the link goes straight to their site.
How often does it update?
Feeds are polled through the day, so headlines usually appear within minutes of publication.
How do you decide which town a story belongs to?
Each headline and summary is matched against a list of 253 Surrey towns, villages and neighbourhoods, plus the county's 11 boroughs and districts. A story can appear under more than one place.
I'm a publisher - can you remove my feed?
Yes, immediately. Email hello@surreynews.co.uk and it will be taken out.
