What it does
- Reads the public feeds published by 15 Surrey outlets.
- Files each story under one of 13 sections and any Surrey places it mentions.
- Drops anything it cannot tie to Surrey, and merges duplicates between titles.
- Shows the publisher's own headline and summary, credited, and links out.
- Writes a small number of its own stories from public documents, marked as ours and sourced line by line.
What it does not do
It does not republish articles, rewrite them, or put its own byline on anyone else's reporting. Where we have written something ourselves it is labelled, and it is built from public records rather than from another outlet's copy. There is no paywall, no login, and no attempt to keep you here rather than sending you to the outlet that did the work.

Do you write the articles?
No. Everything here was written and published by the outlet credited on the card, and the link goes straight to their site. There are no reporters at Surrey News and nothing on the site is written here.
Can you interview me, or cover my story?
No - there are no reporters here, so there is nobody to send. Surrey News indexes other people's journalism; it doesn't produce any. If you have a story, the outlets listed on the contact page are the ones that employ journalists in Surrey, and they are who you want. Press releases and editorial pitches sent to us won't reach anyone who can act on them.
How often does it update?
Feeds are polled through the day, so headlines usually appear within minutes of publication.
How do you decide which town a story belongs to?
Each headline and summary is matched against a list of 253 Surrey towns, villages and neighbourhoods, plus the county's 11 boroughs and districts. A story can appear under more than one place.
